Spotify Waiting To Download Local Files

  • Download the Apple Spotify App Here. Spotify mobile app won't play local files (self.spotify) submitted 4 years ago by whyisthissticky. Anyway, have a local file MP3 that I added it to a playlist, marked it as offline on both desktop and mobile app. The song remains grayed out, and only offers to start the radio based off the artist.

I've been having a problem that's been ongoing for about a month. Whenever I add a local file to my Spotify playlists, then it won't sync to my mobile device (Galaxy Note 4, Android). Other tracks on Spotify's servers sync fine, though. I already tried contacting Spotify customer support but they were no help, all they did was offer 1 month free of premium (I already do pay for premium).

Spotify Sync Local Files Waiting To Download

Edit: I also want to add that I've done extensive Google searches on this issue, and no solutions have been found, just more people confirming that this is an issue.

The playlists show the greyed out track name, yet is stuck on 'waiting to download'. The syncing never occurs.

Things I've tried:

    1. Ensuring there were no firewall issues

  • 2) Removing the tracks and adding them back

  • 3) Switching from available offline to not available offline, and then back to available offline

  • 4) Clearing cache and saved data on the device

  • 5) Re-installing Spotify on the device

  • 6) Restarting my modem/router

  • 7) Using celluar data rather than Wi-Fi

  • 8) Re-installing Spotify client on my PC

  • 9) Ensuring there is enough space on my device

  • 10) Logging out and logging back in

I have a bunch of music on an external hard drive and all of a sudden, it isn't showing up anymore in the local files tab; it just shows how many songs I have and the time it would take to listen through them all. I've tried unchecking the file all of the music comes from in the 'show tracks from' part of the settings and checking it back again to resync all of the music back, but spotify ends up crashing and none of the music shows up again. I have about thirteen thousand songs on this hard drive so I realize that that might be the issue, but I was wondering if anyone else has had the same issue and knows a solution?
