Where Is My Usb Serial Controller Driver Installed In Windows

When I connect my USB-to-RS232 ADAPTER on USB 2.0 port on Windows 7 (64-bit), I get:

Device driver software was not successfully installed

Prolific USB-to-Serial COMM Port (Failed)

On Device Manager Properties, Device Status is: This device cannot start. (Code 10)

When I update driver, message is: The best driver software for your device is already installed but device error is remaining. I also downloaded and installed driver from Prolific website but same result.

When it is registered with the generic name 'USB Serial Device' it uses the Windows driver. The linked document 'Honeywell USB serial driver for Windows 10' provide some guidance on the installation of the HSM USB serial driver, and with the determination of the driver in use. Hi I own a Dell vostro 3555 laptop, and I am not able to use my usb ports. I think the problem here is that I don't have the drivers for SM Bus Controller and Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller according to device manager.

Checking chip version I get: OPEN COM PORT FAILED

What is actually wrong on accessing this device?

Where Is My Usb Serial Controller Driver Installed In Windows 7

My HP computer running Windows 7 became erratic about recognizing the wireless mouse. When I checked the forum, I found others had the same problem of the computer not recognizing the driver. I followed the advice given by a Microsoft support engineer meghmala to delete all the drivers under Universal Serial Bus Controller, and restart the computer so that it would reinstall the drivers. Most of them appear to have been reinstalled, but t.he computer gave me an error message -- 'Universal Serial Bus doesn't have a driver'. I went over to the HP website and downloaded the latest chipset 'Intel USB Host Controller Driver' but I still get the same message. I have been, of course, restarting the computer between each effort.

So, do I need this 'Universal Serial Bus'? It sounds serious. If so. where do I get it? I've search the Microsoft website to the point of frustration, and I described above what I found at the HP website.

And then, of course, I still want to get the computer to recognized the wireless mouse.
